Job Overview
Wrexham (East) CAMHS are seeking an experienced Family Therapist to join our service. The role is a full‑time permanent post with a main base and additional work across other bases as needed. This role involves delivering high quality family therapy to children, young people and families experiencing a wide range of mental health difficulties, and leading the development of the systemic and family therapy offer across East CAMHS.
The position is Band 8a or Band 7 Preceptorship arrangement for newly or recently qualified applicants. Relocation packages are available.
Wrexham CAMHS offers a 0‑18 service to children, young people and families, providing early intervention, prevention services, unscheduled care and a broad range of NICE‑recommended interventions.
Main Responsibilities
* Provide family therapy to children, young people and families, working with a multidisciplinary team.
* Deliver clinical supervision and consultation, offer training, and facilitate case discussion and peer supervision.
* Lead and develop the systemic and family therapy programme, maintain clinical skills within the wider team, and contribute to service development.
* Support the development of therapeutic formulations and systemic thinking across the service.
* Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, weekly peer case discussions and team away days.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Relevant degree.
* Postgraduate Family Therapy or equivalent qualification at Master’s level or higher.
* Professional qualification in a regulated profession eligible under the Mental Health Measure (Wales) 2010 (e.g. nursing, social work, clinical psychology).
* UKCP registration as a family/systemic psychotherapist.
* Highly developed knowledge of systemic theory and practice.
* Knowledge of research design and methodology practiced within the field of family therapy.
* Knowledge of legislation and its implications for clinical practice and professional management in relation to this client group (children).
* Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by UKCP/AFT.
Desirable Criteria (Qualifications)
* Additional relevant academic or accredited therapeutic qualification.
Experience
Essential Experience
* Substantial assessed experience as a registered family/systemic psychotherapist.
* Experience implementing evidence‑based family interventions.
* Experience in a regulated profession such as nursing, social work or clinical psychology.
* Experience of taking full clinical responsibility for clients’ care and coordinating care within multi‑disciplinary care planning.
Desirable Experience
* Experience working directly with children and young people.
* Direct experience of Care Coordination under the Mental Health (Wales) Measure 2010.
* Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision.
