This is a high-profile role within PS responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with partner organisations, customers, and stakeholders, including voluntary and statutory organisations.
The post holder will ensure sufficient quality work placements are available to carry out Community Payback effectively, supporting the CP Manager to meet policy and legislative standards. Weekend working may be required.
Summary
The job involves identifying and establishing community-based work projects, monitoring existing projects, conducting health and safety assessments, and overseeing induction procedures, task definitions, and equipment use.
Responsibilities, Activities & Duties
1. Find and assess suitable Community Payback placements, including those for service user training and employment, considering protective characteristics.
2. Assess income generation opportunities within placements and manage the process to maximise potential.
3. Complete safety schedules and create project files in line with health and safety standards.
4. Promote positive relationships with stakeholders through meetings and site visits.
5. Maintain a safe working environment on all sites, ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation and policies.
6. Ensure placements meet quality standards, taking action to improve or discontinue where necessary.
7. Coordinate tools, equipment, clothing, PPE, and resources, ensuring safety and proper use.
8. Provide health and safety training to staff and support incident investigations.
9. Utilise electronic and social media to promote Community Payback and receive nominations.
10. Liaise with probation practitioners and participate in planning and reviewing induction processes.
11. Recruit and support mentors to encourage engagement and access to support networks.
12. Cover the CP supervisor role as needed and contribute to training initiatives.
Additional duties may be assigned, and flexibility is expected. The role requires fluent English communication skills (and Welsh where specified in Wales).
Experience and Qualifications
* UK Manual Driving License
* Teamwork experience and community network knowledge
* Experience in workplace compliance reviews and IOSH Level 3 or Managing Safely qualification
* Ability to drive a D1 minibus and trailer
* Qualified assessor for NVQ awards for service users (e.g., OCN)
Applicants will complete a short application and respond to two Civil Service Behaviour questions. Successful applicants will start at £26,475, with potential for annual progression.
