This role offers an exciting opportunity to be part of the radiotherapy team at UCLH and to become a key member of the UCLH Sarcoma oncology service. UCLH and the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH) jointly provide the London Sarcoma Service, one of Europe’s largest sarcoma services. Sarcoma oncology patients are treated with advanced photon and proton radiotherapy techniques.
The post holder will provide care to patients receiving treatment in both the photon and proton departments, ensuring highly specialised support in technical radiotherapy treatment planning, delivery and toxicity management throughout the treatment journey.
This autonomous role requires the post holder to manage their own case‑load and be accountable for professional actions, including those of junior staff. Responsibilities include professional clinical leadership, expert guidance to patients and carers, disseminating knowledge across the multidisciplinary team, daily clinical evaluation, setting standards, ensuring staff updates on treatment techniques, meeting national and local targets, implementing guidelines, developing policies and protocols, and contributing to research and service improvement.

Person specification
Knowledge & Qualifications
* BSc in therapeutic radiography or equivalent formal qualification and HCPC registration
* Health Care Profession Council (HCPC) registration as a therapy radiographer
* Post‑graduate courses in management/leadership or other relevant clinical subject
Experience
* Significant postgraduate experience with specialist training and knowledge
* Practical experience in planning and delivering a wide range of radiotherapy techniques
Communication
* Provide information and support about cancer, and communicate highly distressing, sensitive information to patients and relatives/carers
* Be enthusiastic and motivated, with the ability to lead a team through times of change
* Use excellent communication skills to relate confidently across all professional boundaries to Trust staff and external contacts
Skills & Abilities
* Provide specialist clinical training and undertake presentations, both within the department and nationally in conferences and workshops
* Plan, carry out and analyse clinical and departmental audits
