The Gallivant, Camber Sands
Pay: Competitive, dependent on experience
Job type: Full-time and Part-time, Permanent
The Gallivant is a Michelin Key and multi-award-winning boutique hotel by the sea, recognised nationally for its approach to modern British hospitality and consistently high standards of guest experience.
The hotel and its restaurant, Harry's, have received national press coverage, including praise from Grace Dent in The Guardian and inclusion in her Best Restaurants of 2025 round-up.
We operate year-round across rooms, restaurant, weddings, and corporate events, delivering a joined-up hospitality experience rather than separate departments.
We are looking for a capable, professional Front of House Assistant whose primary responsibility is delivering an exceptional resident guest experience from check-in to check-out.
This is not a desk-based role. We do not operate with a traditional reception desk so this position is on the floor actively delivering warm hospitality to our guests.
The role
You will be present, visible, and active throughout the hotel.
You will oversee arrivals and departures, manage guest requests, ensure billing accuracy, and act as a consistent point of contact during each stay. The role requires judgement, attention to detail, and the ability to stay calm during busy periods.
The Gallivant operates as one team. Resident experience and food and beverage are not separate silos. As part of a normal working week, you will step into breakfast service, host for evening restaurant service, support weddings or events, or assist the bar and service team when required.
This is not every shift, but it is a regular and expected part of the role.
The hotel operates continuously across breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There is no closing the doors between services. The role includes evenings, weekends, public holidays, Christmas, and New Year.
This position suits someone who enjoys being on their feet, engaging with guests, and contributing across the operation rather than sitting behind a desk.
What we're looking for
You will be a strong fit if you:
* Have experience in a quality hotel or service-led environment
* Are confident hosting and engaging with guests throughout their stay
* Are organised and comfortable managing systems and detail
* Are adaptable and comfortable stepping into food and beverage service when needed
* Work well across departments and support colleagues proactively
* Take ownership of guest issues and see them through
* Are reliable and happy to work peak hospitality periods
This is a hands-on, operational role requiring energy, flexibility, and professional standards.
Development
The Gallivant is a growing business. Strong performance, sound judgement, and consistency can lead to progression within front of house, operations, or wider hotel roles as the business evolves.
