Job Description Attendance Team Leader (7/08553) (Fixed Term) Dumfries £41,238 - £44,223 We are looking for an ambitious and motivated Team Leader for this Fixed Term one-year position, working 36 hours a week, within the Supporting Learners Service (Education, Skills & Community Wellbeing Directorate) to lead and manage a team of Attendance Support Officers across the region. You will guide and motivate the team to provide professional support and specialist knowledge to schools and families to support children with low school attendance and coach and mentor your team to ensure they perform to the best of their ability. This post may be suitable for secondment. Agreement from your line manager must be sought before applying for this post. We are seeking an individual who is educated to or working towards SVQ Level 4 Management or equivalent and is dedicated to improving outcomes for our children and young people and who is an experienced operational practitioner and strategic thinker. Using your communication skills, you’ll collaborate with partner agencies and families to find solutions to complex education situations. This is an excellent opportunity for a creative and forward-thinking leader to manage and develop this established service while also contributing in a broader role as a member of the Supporting Learners Management Team. This position may be suitable for secondment. Line Management approval should be sought before applying for the position. This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council. Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident. A current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post.
