Tesco Shift Leader - Nights - Barrow‑In‑Furness Extra
Join Tesco as a Shift Leader and help run a busy retail store during overnight shifts. You will be responsible for ensuring a safe, clean, and well‑stocked store that delivers excellent customer service every night.
Pay and Hours
• Rate of pay starts from £14.76 an hour; £15.97 for stores inside the M25.
• Night premium of £2.35 per hour for work between midnight and 6 am.
• Minimum guaranteed 16 hours per week (or 12 if you prefer fewer hours).
• Availability windows (example): Tue 21:00‑08:00, Wed 21:00‑08:00, Thu 21:00‑08:00, Fri 21:00‑08:00, Sat 21:00‑08:00.
Responsibilities
 * Work in a fast‑paced retail environment.
 * Take ownership of running duty shifts, coordinating the team to deliver a clean, well‑stocked store that exceeds customer expectations.
 * Listen to customers and ensure they leave with what they came for.
 * Identify opportunities to improve service, coach colleagues and give constructive feedback.
 * Guide and support your colleagues to keep the store a safe place to work and shop.
 * Maintain a great understanding of store performance and assist managers with actions to improve operation.
 * Lead from the front and set a great example for all team members.
 * Coordinating the store team to deliver an easy, fuss‑free shopping experience.
 * Supporting your colleagues, ensuring they deliver daily priorities and take regular breaks.
 * Opening and closing the store, completing duty cover, ensuring all decisions are right for safety.
 * Being the go‑to person for colleagues when a manager is absent.
 * Keeping the store always clean, tidy and well‑presented.
 * Supporting managers with seasonal, community and charity events.
 * Providing great customer service by listening to customers and putting them first.
 * Keeping the team well‑informed on any communications, changes or updates.
 * Staying knowledgeable about store performance and looking for ways to improve and simplify operations.
 * Coordinating store improvements and removing obstacles that block service.
 * Following health and safety routines and procedures, ensuring colleagues do the same.
 * Recognising and celebrating colleagues who deliver great service.
Requirements
 * Be 18 or over.
 * Be a great role model providing thoughtful customer service that meets every customer's needs.
 * Build strong, long‑lasting relationships with colleagues to create a positive and inclusive team atmosphere.
 * Communicate clearly, keeping the team well‑informed.
 * Comfortable taking the lead and overseeing the store in the absence of a manager.
 * Good decision‑making, flexible thinking and handling change for customers and colleagues.
 * Motivating, inspiring the team to deliver beyond expectations.
 * Curious, always looking for ideas to serve customers, communities and the planet better.
