Packaging Designer An exciting opportunity has arisen for a creative and technically skilled Rigid Packaging Designer to join a growing design and manufacturing team. This role focuses on the development of rigid thermoformed packaging for the food and consumer goods sectors, taking concepts from initial idea through to production-ready tooling using a range of CAD/CAM and visualisation tools. Alongside design responsibilities, the role includes occasional hands-on support with CNC machining setup and prototype sampling, particularly during periods of holiday cover. Key Responsibilities Develop innovative rigid thermoformed packaging solutions aligned with customer requirements and manufacturing capabilities Produce accurate 3D models and technical drawings using SolidWorks Generate toolpaths and CNC machining programs using Powermill Create high-quality renders and visual presentations using KeyShot, PowerPoint, and Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) Maintain clear and accurate project documentation, ensuring effective version control throughout the development process Skills & Experience Required Proven experience in packaging design, ideally within rigid plastics or thermoforming Strong proficiency in SolidWorks (3D modelling and drafting) Working knowledge of Powermill for toolpath creation and CNC programming Skilled in KeyShot visualisation and Adobe Creative Cloud for artwork and presentation development Competent in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) for documentation and communication Understanding of manufacturing processes including thermoforming, CNC machining, and toolmaking Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Practical, hands-on approach with excellent attention to detail Strong communication and organisational skills Desirable Attributes Experience with prototype development and CNC machine setup Knowledge of polymer materials and their properties Innovative mindset with strong problem-solving abilities Role Details Job Type: Full-time, Permanent Salary: £30,000–£45,000 depending on experience Benefits 25 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays Contributory pension scheme (available after three months) On-site parking
