Job Overview
This is an exciting opportunity to work in a well-established Comprehensive Transfer Service (CTT) with several exciting opportunities in the region. It is also an extremely exciting and interesting opportunity to spearhead and contribute towards the development of Hope Haven, a mental health and wellbeing hub in the heart of Whitehaven and Copeland which is a community partnership initiative between CNTW and several partnership organisations.
There is also opportunity to be part of developing ongoing changes within services in the region such as The Pears Cumbria School of Medicine (PCSM) which is a new venture between the University of Cumbria and Imperial College London. The aim is to produce doctors committed to delivering cutting‑edge healthcare approaches and serve the needs of the Cumbria community.
This is a full‑time (10 PA) post for a specialty doctor to provide medical input into West CTT Cumbria and PLT.
Responsibilities
* Participate in the engagement, assessment, diagnosis and formulation of patients referred to the CTT.
* Support the medical workforce on the West CTT.
* Be committed to delivering excellence in clinical care.
* Work effectively with the multidisciplinary community team and in‑patient teams.
* Promote the safety and well‑being of the patients we serve.
* Respect the rights and dignity of patients.
* Consider the individual and cultural needs of patients.

Applicant Eligibility and Conditions
The post holder is expected to have total DCC of 8 PA and 2 PA for SPA. The post holder will work alongside the multidisciplinary team covering the adult population in North‑Cumbria.
Applicants must have appropriate UK professional registration. This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) and Order 2020, and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
Person Specification
Required Qualifications
* MBBS (or equivalent)
* Registration with the GMC (or eligible to become registered) with a licence to practice.
* MRCPsych or equivalent qualification.
* Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant field.
* Has undergone training in educational supervision.
* Has undergone training in appraisal.
* Approved under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983.
* Approved Clinician Status.
Knowledge
* Up to date knowledge in the field of psychiatry.
* Awareness of current issues and controversies in service provision, mental health policy and legislation.
Experience
* Minimum of 4 years full‑time postgraduate training including 2 years work experience in psychiatry.
* Experience of multidisciplinary team working.
* Wide clinical experience in psychiatry in different clinical settings.
* Experience in multi‑agency work especially with service users, carers and voluntary agencies.
* Experience in service management or development.
* Experience of clinical audit.
Skills
* High level of clinical skills.
* Able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Proven competence in diagnosis and management of psychiatric disorders.
* Good teaching skills.
* Ability to work in a time‑efficient manner.
* Established record of clinical leadership.
* Established ability as a clinical teacher.
* Training in specific and relevant treatment skills (e.g., brief form of psychological therapy).
* Minimum of 6 months postgraduate working in NHS Psychiatry.
