Assistant Quantity Surveyor
Galliford Try is looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join the team in Manchester. This role involves working on a £25m residential development project in Chester, with the opportunity to travel across multiple sites and projects in the region.
Job Description
As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will work closely with your line manager to assist in the commercial administration, reporting and performance on a single large project. The position requires a candidate seeking to gain experience, develop their career and become a key part of the Site Team and Business Unit Commercial Team.
What you will be doing
* Participate in creating a safe working environment.
* Use the latest software tools to assist in cost and value reporting.
* Be involved in the procurement of subcontract packages, including preparation of bid enquiry documentation and critical evaluation of bids.
* Produce subcontract documentation for approval for packages procured.
* Administer allocated subcontract works packages, including interim assessments of amounts due and change management.
* Assist in the production and issue of commercial notices to subcontractors.
* Assist in the management of change in accordance with the form of contract.
* Provide information to the Commercial team to assist in the production of monthly payment applications to the client.
* Liaise with operational and engineering staff.
* Collate and calculate information required to assist the Commercial team in the production and maintenance of a detailed ‘cost to complete’, including schedules of subcontractor liabilities.
About You
* Good appreciation of standard forms of contract.
* Strong IT skills including Excel and Word.
* Experience dealing with a range of subcontract packages.
* Good communicator.
