**Job Title: Winter Night Shelter Support Worker**
**Job Summary:**
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our Winter Night Shelter team. The Support Worker will be responsible for providing support to rough sleepers accessing the Night Shelter. Working with people who are homeless you will stay awake overnight and ensure the smooth running of the Shelter.
**Responsibilities:**
* Provide personalized support to individuals who access the Night Shelter
* Engage in meaningful interactions and activities to promote socialization
* Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including drug and alcohol services, Mansfield District Council and external agencies, to ensure holistic care
* Welcome and sign in guests, ensuring referral forms have been completed
* Set up the room each evening, putting out beds, welcoming guests, serving light refreshments
* Close down the room in a morning, put away beds, ensure all areas are clean and tidy, serve refreshments to guests before they leave.
* Ensure guests arrive and leave on time
-Implement house rules, such as lights out, doors closed and health and safety guidelines provided by your co-ordinator
-Oversee and guide volunteers who will assist in the evenings with set up, socializing and serving refreshments
**Qualifications:**
Required:
* Previous experience of working with vulnerable or disadvantaged people
* Ability to handle physical demands of the job with empathy and patience
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Understanding of the needs of individuals and the ability to establish and maintain information systems and keep accurate records
* Be able to support Crossroads basis of faith, ethos statement and values
* Agree to undertake a DBS Check
-Attend mandatory training sessions
Desired:
-Proven experience of working with rough sleepers
* Understanding of issues faced by those who are homeless
* Willingness to be flexible regarding shift patterns
-Basic computer skills

Please note the hourly rate is inclusive of annual leave entitlement.
This is a temporary position for the duration of the Winter Night Shelter, starting December 1st 25 until March 31st 26.
Shifts are 8pm until 8am, running 7 nights per week. All staff must stay awake for the duration of the shift. There will be two support workers on site at all times.

Pay: £13.50 per hour
Expected hours: 12 – 48 per week
