Job Title: Assistant Manager – Nominated Officer Team
SALARY: £44,900 - £49,890
HOURS: Full time – 35 hours per week
LOCATION(S): Edinburgh or Birmingham
WORKING PATTERN: Hybrid – at least 40% of time at one of the office sites.
The Nominated Officer is responsible for the receipt, investigation and disclosure of Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) to the National Crime Agency (NCA), aligned with the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 and Terrorism Act 2000. The Assistant Manager supports the Nominated Officer in Economic Crime Prevention (ECP), working as part of a team to meet reporting obligations, conduct investigations and maintain the bank’s integrity.
In essence, you’ll:
* Provide expert monitoring on complex, high‑risk matters and appropriately escalated cases to protect the Group and its reputation.
* Act as a trusted contact for external stakeholders (Law Enforcement, FCA, HMRC, NCA, DWP), managing sensitive and time‑critical engagement.
* Manage day‑to‑day activities in line with service standards, driving quality, cost and delivery measures.
* Support safe delivery of business change and maintain effective SAR and AML compliance throughout implementation.
* Ensure Operations meet Anti‑Money Laundering requirements, supporting learning to help the team achieve performance targets.
* Promote a proactive culture of continuous improvement, engagement and innovation across the team.
* Engage, support and provide SME input to Second Line functions, contributing to strategic and risk‑based decisions.
What you’ll need:

* Excellent understanding of POCA and TACT.
* Capability to coach and communicate with colleagues for learning and development.
* Proven ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team.
* Strong problem‑solving skills to identify and mitigate risks while maintaining regulatory compliance.
* Embraces emerging technologies, including AI‑enabled tools, to support analysis, decision‑making and continuous improvement.
