Green Coffee Quality Management Evaluate and approve green coffee samples for purchase and contract fulfillment whilst conducting physical grading and sensory evaluation according to Frey standards. Monitor crop quality, seasonal variation, and lot performance. Maintain quality benchmarks for different origins, grades, and customer programs. Contract & Specification Compliance and Risk Ensure all coffees meet contractual quality specifications prior to shipment, whilst reviewing contracts to understand quality tolerances and risk exposure. Approve pre-shipment samples and final shipping releases where necessary and support the resolution of quality disputes and claims. Identify potential quality risks related to origin, storage, transit, and aging. Advise traders on quality risk when structuring contracts and delivery terms. Counterparty Quality Coordination Communicate quality expectations to exporters, suppliers, and origin partners and work with suppliers to address defects, processing issues, or inconsistencies. Support origin visits, crop assessments, and supplier evaluations Understand customer quality requirements and usage profiles. Provide quality documentation, samples, and technical feedback to customers. Support customer approvals and troubleshoot quality concerns. Assist sales and trading teams with customer presentations and quality discussions. Organising inbound and outbound sample deliveries to counterparts. Quality Systems & Documentation Take the lead on developing Frey’s in-house systems (MyFrey) to facilitate quality management. Maintain quality records, grading results, and sample libraries. Track quality performance by origin, supplier, and customer. Develop and update internal quality procedures and SOPs. Support audits and compliance requirement. Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with trading, logistics, risk, and operations teams whilst providing quality input for purchasing, pricing, and contract decisions Take the lead on various compliance tasks to facilitate coffee trading, including but not limited to certifications, EUDR, supplier forms etc. Assist where necessary in the logistics and execution of Coffee Contracts and its daily management. Actively seek new opportunities for the sales and trading of coffee alongside traders. Identify and maintain relationships with buyers. Propose and lead projects or process improvements that enhance Frey’s competitiveness, from refining contract terms to innovating new marketing approaches to ESG and sustainability initiatives.
