The Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled English Lecturer to deliver high‑quality teaching within a dynamic, forward‑thinking department. The successful candidate will be passionate about supporting learners and confident in delivering both GCSE English and Functional Skills. Your contribution will play a vital part in helping students achieve key qualifications that support progression into further study, apprenticeships, or employment.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver engaging and high‑quality lessons in GCSE English and Functional Skills
* Plan, prepare, and assess teaching materials in line with curriculum requirements and learner needs
* Support and motivate learners with varying abilities to ensure successful outcomes
* Monitor learner progress and provide constructive, timely feedback
* Work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance the overall learner experience
* Contribute to departmental meetings, quality processes, and curriculum development
* Maintain accurate records in accordance with college policies and awarding body guidelines
Educations, Skills and Experience
* Degree in English or a related subject
* A recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, Cert Ed)
* Proven experience delivering GCSE English and/or Functional Skills within a post‑16 or FE environment
* Strong knowledge of the GCSE and Functional Skills curriculum
* Excellent communication, organisational and classroom management skills
* A learner‑centred approach and a commitment to supporting positive outcomes for all students
* An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
