Position: Industrial / Security Door Installation Engineer Location: Cardiff-based with UK-wide travel Salary: £35K-£45K Job Type: Full-time, Permanent Benefits: Company van, pension scheme, training & development opportunities, etc. The Opportunity An established engineering business is seeking a skilled Door Installation Engineer to join its specialist team. The successful applicant will be responsible for installing high-security, fire-rated and industrial doors across commercial and industrial environments. This role is field-based and involves regular travel to customer sites throughout the UK. Attention to detail, adherence to technical standards, and a professional approach when representing the business are essential. Key Responsibilities Installation: Accurately measure, fit and install a range of doors, including timber, steel, fire-rated and high-security products, in accordance with industry regulations (e.g. LPS 1175, BS EN 16005). Preparation: Remove and replace frames and doors, ensuring seamless finishes and correct fit. Hardware & Mechanisms: Install and configure door hardware including hinges, closers, locking mechanisms, and access control components. Problem-Solving: Diagnose and resolve site-based issues, ensuring optimal door performance and security. Quality Assurance: Conduct post-install inspections and testing to confirm compliance and performance against required standards. Customer Support: Work directly with clients and site representatives, providing clear communication, guidance and professional service. Documentation: Produce accurate reports, commissioning paperwork, and site sheets. Health & Safety: Maintain high standards of H&S on all jobs, using PPE and working to site rules and regulations. Skills & Experience Required Minimum 5 years' experience in commercial and/or industrial door installation. Proficient with hand and power tools (e.g. drills, saws, levels). Valid CSCS card. Physically capable of manual handling and lifting heavy equipment. Full UK driving licence. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills and professional communication. Desirable Experience working with LPS 1175 SR2/3/4 rated security doors. Relevant NVQ Level 2/3 in Door Systems Installation or similar. Understanding of BS EN 16005 and wider door industry standards. Experience with automated doors or access control systems.
