Reporting directly to the ARMCEN Support Unit (ASU) Team Leader (TL) and the Garrison Commander, this post is pivotal in leading a small team focused on ensuring that all the soldiers at Bovington receive their correct pay and allowances and are supported regardless of the phase of their career they are in from just starting out their military career through to resettling and moving into the civilian world. The Ministry of Defence employs over 50,000 Civil Servants. Within that, the Army Top Level Budget (TLB) employs around 12,000 MOD Civil Servants located at over 300 locations. Ours is a diverse workforce, with roles ranging from trainers, human resources, teachers, and psychologists to storekeepers, financiers, project and programme managers, and policy secretariat staff. There are many different functions and professions delivering key outputs for the Army. HQ CMC is the parent organisation of the ASU along with the Combined Arms Manoeuvre School, Armoured Fighting Vehicle School, Royal Armoured Corps Training Regiment, The Infantry Battle School, The Land Special Operations Training School, and the Small Arms School Corp. The post is in Bovington Camp, home of the ARMCEN and is a British Army base located in Dorset which, together with Lulworth Camp, forms the Bovington Garrison. The camp is a matter of miles from the south coast and is part of the world heritage site that is the Jurassic Coast. The garrison consists of three barrack complexes and two forest/heathland training areas that supports the delivery of Initial Trade Training (ITT) for soldiers of the Royal Armoured Corps, the Royal Engineers and the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, as well as Subsequent Trade Training (STT) for many other Defence units. This position is advertised at 37 hours per week. Job Description: Your role as the Garrison Administration Officer is to lead, deliver and audit a comprehensive and effective military HR function on behalf of Bovington Garrison. Specific tasks you'll be required to deliver will include: Lead for delivering personnel, pay and administrative support to all ranks on strength. This includes all ITT students and permanent service personnel within the lodger units at the Garrison Principal adviser to the Garrison Commander and the ASU Team Leader for all garrison personnel admin and service financial matters Act as deputy to ASU Team Leader, leading the ASU in their absence where required; representing the Team Leader at meetings and dealing with urgent ASU requirements as necessary, to enable ASU services to be maintained Internal Auditor for all Garrison Service Charitable Funds (SCFs), ensuring all are maintained in accordance with current regulations and all remedial action is carried out Conduct iExpense Audits on Service Personnel claims received Line Management of 1 x Warrant Officer Class 2, 1 x Executive Officer and Countersigning Officer for a 5 x Administrative Officer grade Civil Servants Act as co-ordinator and secretary to quarterly meeting between Garrison Commander and representatives of the local civilian communities such as the County Council and Parish Councils Oversight of resettlement activities for the Garrison The Army prides itself on being a supportive employer and where possible encourages flexible working, helping you to maintain a great work/life balance. You will be dealing with soldiers ranging in age from 18-50 and they will have differing experience of the British Army, so you will need to be able to tailor your approach and style to suit their needs.
