Job Summary
An exciting role for an experienced and enthusiastic chef with good knowledge and understanding of large-scale production catering.
The right candidate will have previous experience leading a team and be able to communicate effectively with catering staff, management, ward staff, patients, and senior staff across the Trust.
They will be conscientious with a determination to drive essential change throughout the department, assisting catering management with implementing new practices and procedures to ensure all kitchen staff have the knowledge, skills, and tools to provide high-quality service at all times.
They will need an eagerness to support through strong leadership, leading by example, and identifying areas for improvement.
The role involves proactive menu development, providing knowledgeable input to support the catering dietitian and management to ensure menus are fresh, exciting, well-balanced, nutritious, and resource-efficient. Menus will include sustainable, local, seasonal ingredients and meet the Trust's Food and Drink Strategy.
They will play a key part in the department's development and resilience planning to ensure sustainability for the future.
Main Duties
1. Manage the production and service of approximately 2,500 high-quality meals daily, ensuring efficiency and economy within operational frameworks.
2. Communicate effectively with all catering staff, ward staff, management, and senior staff across the Trust.
3. Work with the catering management team to review and develop catering services to achieve high operational standards.
4. Develop patient menus, implement new dishes, and create recipes.
5. Ensure food production conforms to ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System standards.
6. Promote and work towards compliance with the National Standard and the Trust’s Food and Drink Strategy.
