Remote Maternity Cover- UK/ Netherlands

We are looking for a Marketing Director (Maternity Cover) who will own the overall marketing strategy, budget, and brand positioning across the Cycas hotel portfolio in the UK and Europe. This fixed-term role provides an exciting opportunity to lead the Marketing function, maintain momentum across multiple properties, and ensure continuity of key initiatives during the maternity leave. You are strategic, creative, and results-driven leader with stronghospitality marketing experience, capable of aligning teams, vendors, and stakeholders across the business.

You have a proven track record in multi-property marketing leadership, driving brand visibility, and delivering measurable commercial impact while ensuring team development and operational excellence.


What will you do?


Marketing Strategy & Budget

* Define and oversee the annual marketing strategy and budget for the hotel portfolio, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
* Guide the team to focus on high-ROI, efficiency, and innovation across all marketing initiatives.
* Demonstrate continuous drive to innovate services and ways of working across the function, ensuring Cycas Marketing continues to deliver scalable, multi-channel marketing to guests and prospective customers.
* Collaborate closely with Cycas Corporate teams, including People & Culture, Development, Finance, Operations, and Commercial, to ensure marketing initiatives are aligned with broader business objectives and operational priorities.
* Track and grow portfolio-level marketing impact, delivering insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
* Oversee corporate marketing activities in collaboration with the PR & Communications Manager, ensuring synergy between corporate and property-level campaigns.
* Lead marketing initiatives for new hotel signings, ensuring smooth integration into the Cycas brand portfolio.


Brand Positioning & Relationships

* Maintain and strengthen brand positioning, tone of voice, and visual identity across all hotels and markets.
* Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders (Owners, GMs, Revenue, Sales, Operations) and external partners to align marketing priorities and opportunities.
* Drive contribution to our hotels via global brand partners, assisting junior team members to grow their understanding of opportunities provided by brand channels.
* Enhance Cycas’ industry presence through thought leadership, partnerships, awards, and events.


Team Development & People Management

* Lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing marketing team, setting clear objectives and KPIs.
* Support ongoing professional development and progression of team members to build capabilities and ensure strategic results across the portfolio.
* Oversee cross-functional collaboration and communications with the wider Commercial and on-property teams.


Vendor & Systems Management

* Maintain strong vendor relationships and manage marketing tool contracts, integrations, and system usage.
* Ensure effective deployment of tools and technologies across the marketing team and hotel portfolio to drive efficiency and reporting.
* Oversee agency partnerships, ensuring delivery of high-quality content, campaigns, and ROI.


Portfolio & Corporate Marketing

* Collaborate on digital, social media, and PR initiatives to maximise visibility, engagement, and bookings.
* Support the development of hotel-level campaigns, promotional activities, and marketing materials to ensure consistency and alignment with the Cycas brand.
* Monitor market and competitor trends, using insights to evolve strategies and maintain competitive advantage.


New Hotel Signings & Launches

* Lead marketing strategy and campaign development for newly signed hotels.
* Coordinate launch plans, communications, and property-level marketing integration to drive awareness and performance.


Transition & Handover

* Ensure comprehensive documentation and handover of ongoing projects, strategies, and vendor relationships for a seamless transition back to the permanent Marketing Director at the end of the maternity cover period.
* Maintain continuity on key initiatives and ensure progress on strategic priorities during the interim period.
* Proven senior-level marketing leadership, ideally with minimum 8 years’ experience in hospitality or a closely related service industry.
* Demonstrable success in defining and delivering marketing strategies across multiple markets, with strong budget management experience.
* Strong brand stewardship, with experience managing tone of voice, visual identity, and multi-brand environments.
* Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills; adept at working across commercial, operations, and owner teams.
* Deep understanding of digital marketing channels (SEO/SEM, social media, CRM, email, content marketing) and experience applying analytics/insights to drive performance.
* Strategic mindset with a data-driven approach — comfortable interpreting complex marketing metrics and translating them into actionable recommendations.
* Excellent communication (written and verbal), presentation, and leadership skills.
* Experience managing agencies and vendor partners, with strong project management and organisational skills.
* Experience working in a pan-European context, with multiple languages (English required, and another European language advantageous).
* A passion for hospitality, guest experience, and brand storytelling in the hotel industry.


Qualifications & Experience

* Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Hospitality or a related discipline. MBA or advanced qualification desirable.
* Significant experience in a senior marketing role within hospitality (hotel group, resort, or hospitality services business).
* Track record of delivering measurable marketing impact (growth in occupancy/ADR, improved digital performance, brand awareness uplift).
* Experience leading teams and managing multi-market, multi-property portfolios.
