Mechanical Design Engineer – Pressure Equipment
Location: Brownhills
Salary: £45,000 – £50,000 per annum
We are a leading engineering business delivering innovative solutions in the design and manufacture of pressure vessels, pressure pipework, and heat exchangers. We are looking for a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to join a dynamic team and design cutting-edge pressure equipment, fabrication jigs, and fixtures—all while ensuring compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Design and develop pressure vessels, pressure pipework, and heat exchangers in line with ASME III, ASME VIII, PD 5500, and BS EN 12952.
* Produce detailed 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and specifications for manufacturing.
* Conduct stress analysis, material selection, and design calculations to ensure safety and integrity.
* Review and improve existing designs for functionality, cost-efficiency, and manufacturability.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet client requirements.
* Maintain accurate design documentation and project records.
* Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Key Requirements
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
* Proven experience in mechanical design of pressure vessels, pipework, and heat exchangers.
* Strong knowledge of ASME III, ASME VIII, PD 5500, BS EN 12952.
* Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
* Experience with stress analysis and material selection for pressure equipment.
* Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
* Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
* Must be a British national eligible for UK security clearance.
Desirable Skills
* Experience in power generation, oil & gas, chemical, or energy sectors.
* Familiarity with FEA (Finite Element Analysis) software.
* Chartered status or working towards IMechE / IED chartership.
