Chief Moderator – Child Development and Care in Early Years

We’re seeking an experienced Chief Moderator to oversee the moderation of the NCFE Level 1/2 Technical Award in Child Development and Care in the Early Years (603/7012/9) on a flexible worker contract, starting March 2026 and ending August 2026. The moderation will ensure centres assess student work correctly and consistently, and that submitted materials meet required standards.
About The Role
As Chief Moderator, you’ll make judgments on the accuracy and validity of provider and moderator assessment decisions, continuously analysing data and evidence as part of the quality process to ensure qualification and regulatory compliance.
How You’ll Make An Impact
* Recruit, train and performance‑manage a team of Moderators across the relevant sector area
* Ensure that quality assurance and moderation are delivered in line with qualification and customer requirements
* Maintain moderation team compliance with all regulatory conditions relating to moderation of centre assessments
* Coordinate day‑to‑day activities of the moderation team throughout the moderation window
Qualifications and Experience
* Minimum Level 3 qualification in child development and care in the early years subject area
* At least 3 years’ experience working within the child development and care in the early years sector
* Qualifications in assessment and internal quality assurance
* Knowledge and management of moderation processes
* Experience managing a team of moderators
* Excellent report writing skills
