Job overview
Are you looking to move on and to progress to a Team Leader position in immunology?
Royal Preston immunology service is a highly advanced UKAS accredited laboratory offering a regional, specialised service for Lancashire and South Cumbria and beyond.
Pathology is at the forefront of delivering 21st century healthcare and has a profound impact on an organisation’s ability to provide high quality, efficient and effective patient care. Changing demographics, rising demand, technological innovation, and continual drives for efficient and effective services are key drivers to improving the quality of service provision, whilst streamlining the way in which services are delivered.
Four provider organisations in L&SC have committed to form a network and collaborate on pathology services, including, Blackpool Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust and University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust. The intention is to form one pathology entity which will be hosted by one of the existing provider organisations.
You will provide day-to-day operational management of the immunology laboratory. You will also be quality lead, responsible for the maintenance of quality in line with UKAS standards. This includes allocating staff duties and lead BMS training & development within immunology.
This is a full time, permanent post working at RPH.
Main duties of the job
You will ensure that standards set by UKAS are achieved by the Trust in relation to immunology.
Your duties will include supporting the team in the day to day organisation, management and supervision of laboratory areas to ensure delivery of a timely, quality service. You will be expected to take an active role in the training and development of staff and to have good communication skills. You will be expected to participate in the senior management meetings to understand and support delivery of the operational services as well as deputise in the absence of the Lead BMS and other team leaders.
Applicants must be HCPC registered biomedical scientists and should hold an MSc qualification in immunology (you will be required to provide proof of qualification/MSc module information prior to interview).
