Supervising Social Worker – Vale of Glamorgan Council
This Supervising Social Worker position is located in our Placements Team. The team assesses and approves foster placements for children in Vale of Glamorgan and supports foster carers.

About the Role
* Assist in assessing and approving foster placements, including kinship placements.
* Provide support and professional fostering support to foster carers, including a 24/7 support line.
* Work with children and their carers to promote placement stability and prevent disruption.
* Participate in out‑of‑hours support, average one overnight per week and less than one full weekend a month.
* Collaborate with the Fostering Panel and other teams to commission placements from internal and independent resources.
Pay Details and Working Pattern
Grade 8 (H) – £36,124–£39,513 p.a.; Grade 9 (I) – £40,476–£44,711 p.a. Hours of work: 37h per week. Main place of work: Docks Office/Agile working.
Qualifications and Experience
* Social work qualification and registration with Social Care Wales.
* Post‑qualifying experience of direct work with children, young people and families.
* Experience working in a team.
* Experience collating information and providing reports.
* Knowledge of vulnerable children, child development and various engagement methods.
