Overview
An opportunity to join an established Civil Engineering contractor operating across Somerset and the surrounding counties. The client is recruiting for an experienced Estimator / Quantity Surveyor to take commercial control of civil engineering and highway projects and be responsible for supporting pricing, tenders and pre-contract planning, through to cost control and contractual compliance.
Responsibilities
* Be responsible for preparing cost estimates and tender submissions for highways & civil engineering projects.
* Analyse drawings/specifications, and contract documents to prepare accurate costings.
* Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors, evaluating best value options.
* Maintain accurate records, control and reconcile costs and value, report variances against agreed performance, compliance and finance targets.
* Take control of change management.
* Be involved in a review of current procedures and processes and assist in the implementation of new and revised processes where required.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying or Civil Engineering discipline.
* Experience of working for a Civil Engineering contractor.
* Knowledge of NEC and JCT forms of contract.
* Strong commercial awareness and acumen.
* Excellent communication skills.
Salary and Benefits
* £40,000 - £55,000 per annum
