The Estates Department is seeking a Multi-Skilled Operative (Building) to join West London NHS Trust. In this role, you will ensure the trust's estate is compliant, safe, and suitable for purpose, supporting building and infrastructure maintenance to meet clinical and operational needs.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Perform reactive and planned maintenance, as well as new work activities on building fabrics, fixtures, fittings, and related works.
2. Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, Trust standards, policies, and procedures.
3. Utilize specific trade skills to install, repair, and maintain building fabric, fixtures, fittings, finishes, and decorations.
4. Carry out cross-trade tasks such as glazing, carpentry, joinery, painting, decorating, basic plumbing, waste blockage clearance, and ligature prevention installations.
5. Attend training to undertake other building and civil engineering repairs and maintenance.
6. Investigate general building elements as a first-line response.
7. Escort contractors working within the secure hospital perimeter.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Recognized apprenticeship or approved training scheme with relevant experience.
* City & Guilds Level 2 or NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification.
* Experience in carpentry or building trades.
* Experience working within a commercial or public estate service.
* Significant experience across building trades.
* Self-motivated with minimal supervision.
* Good verbal and written communication skills.
* Valid driving license (manual & automatic).
Desirable:
* Health and safety training.
* Experience with NHS or public sector estates systems and compliance management.
