Location: Worcestershire (Hybrid after probation)
Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 + bonus + benefits benefits
Clearance: Must be eligible for UK SC (sponsorship available)
Are you passionate about propulsion, numerical modelling, and the physics of how things really fly?
This is a rare opportunity to join one of the UK's leading developers of solid rocket motor technology, supporting some of the most advanced defence programmes in the country.
We're hiring a Senior Propulsion Engineer (internally known as a Senior Ballistician) for a specialist engineering organisation working at the forefront of rocket motor design, analysis, and performance modelling.
?? What You'll Be Doing
As an internal technical authority on rocket motor performance, you'll be involved in the full engineering life-cycle, including:
Predicting rocket motor performance using a range of numerical modelling methods.
Supporting the design, conception and optimisation of solid rocket motor systems.
Analysing live motor firing trials and comparing real world data to model predictions.
Developing and improving in house modelling and simulation methodologies.
Leading and contributing to research projects exploring the next generation of propulsion technologies.
Acting as a technical interface with customers, presenting findings and guiding design decisions.
Mentoring junior engineers in modelling, simulation and rocket motor fundamentals.
This is a highly analytical role with genuine influence over key technical decisions.
?? Who We're Looking For
You'll ideally bring:
Degree in Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or similar.
Strong understanding of fluid dynamics, numerical simulation, and applied physics.
Proficiency with MATLAB or Python for data analysis and modelling.
Experience in numerical modelling, Computational Fluid Dynamics, propulsion, or a related discipline.
Experience from aerospace, defence, rocketry, propulsion, or similar.
Genuine enthusiasm for rocket propulsion - many successful people here are passionate about rockets.
?? Security Clearance
Applicants must be eligible for SC clearance. The employer will sponsor this.
? Why Join?
Work on real rocket motor systems used in front line defence applications.
Significant research opportunities with freedom to drive your own technical projects.
Strong progression potential - future leadership paths available for the right person.
Hybrid working, competitive salary, bonus scheme and a comprehensive benefits package.
Relocation support available for candidates moving to the area.
