Due to an increase in pupils requiring additional support in Nursery and Reception, the school is now seeking a caring and committed EYFS Teaching Assistant to join their Early Years team.
Role Purpose
As an EYFS Teaching Assistant, you will support children aged 3–5 in Nursery and Reception, helping them to develop early communication, literacy, numeracy, and social skills. You will work closely with the class teacher and EYFS Lead to deliver engaging learning activities and provide targeted support to individual pupils.
A significant part of this role involves supporting children with SEN, including autism, speech and language difficulties, developmental delay, and emotional or behavioural needs. You will help ensure that all children can access learning in a calm, safe, and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Support EYFS learning through structured activities and play-based learning
* Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils requiring additional help
* Support children with SEN, including ASD, ADHD, and communication needs
* Assist with phonics, early reading, mark-making, and early maths
* Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and independence
* Support daily routines such as transitions, carpet time, and snack time
* Assist with outdoor learning and physical development activities
* Observe, assess, and record children’s progress and achievements
* Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and external professionals
* Support children with personal care needs where required
* Maintain safeguarding, health, and safety procedures at all times
