Systems Solutions Engineer - Defence
Overview
This is an opportunity to work on truly mission-critical technology, supporting the delivery of advanced training capabilities for the British Army. You'll operate within a collaborative, high-impact engineering environment, helping design, integrate, and deploy complex systems across cloud, simulation, and physical platforms.
We're hiring multiple individuals and are keen to build a balanced team-combining hands-on technical engineers with those bringing strong systems engineering principles and technical leadership experience.
Key Responsibilities
Design, deploy, and support integrated systems across cloud, on-prem, and simulation environments
Translate operational and technical requirements into scalable system architectures
Integrate software, infrastructure, hardware, and third-party solutions
Support CI/CD-driven deployments and DevOps practices
Conduct system testing, troubleshooting, and validation
Act as a technical interface with suppliers, reviewing proposals and ensuring integration alignment
Support vendor and supply chain engagement, ensuring solutions meet technical and operational requirements
Collaborate across multidisciplinary engineering teams
What We're Looking For
Background in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Infrastructure, or Hardware-led environments
Strong understanding of systems integration principles
Experience working across complex, multi-system environments
Ability to manage or support technical delivery with vendors/suppliersWe're particularly interested in candidates who bring:
Experience applying principles of systems engineering (requirements, design, integration, V&V)
Exposure to technical management or coordination of suppliers and partners
A balance of hands-on engineering capability and systems-level thinking
Technical Experience (flexible across roles)
Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and hybrid environments
CI/CD, containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes)
Observability and monitoring tools
Database technologies
DevOps tooling and deployment pipelines
Additional Requirements
Strong problem-solving and stakeholder engagement skills
Experience in regulated or complex delivery environments is advantageous
Eligibility for UK Security Clearance (SC)

37hr working week, although hours may vary depending on role, job requirement or site-specific arrangements. Early 1.30pm finish Friday, start your weekend early!
