If you're an IT and Information Security professional who is passionate about delivering fantastic customer service, East Lothian Council has an exciting opportunity for you. The IT Service supports over 4000 users across 100 sites, including 6 secondary schools and 36 primary schools. This role is based in the IT Infrastructure & Security team at John Muir House, Haddington, with a focus on voice and data networks and opportunities to work across other areas of the team.
Options for home, hybrid or office working are available for this role. You should be willing and able to visit our HQ in Haddington or other council sites as required.
Responsibilities
* Work with colleagues to ensure all aspects of the Council's IT infrastructure operate efficiently and effectively.
* Assist with the evaluation, selection and standardisation of new technologies.
* Provide Level 2 IT Support.
* Provide professional advice and guidance to enable Council wide digital transformation.
The Jobholder will be a proactive and forward-thinking individual with experience of monitoring, evaluating, implementing and supporting enterprise wide IT infrastructure.
Qualifications
* Relevant degree and/or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and competencies gained through relevant experience.
* This role requires Basic Disclosure Clearance to allow access to the secure government networks. East Lothian Council will submit a baseline personal security standard application on behalf of the preferred candidate and receipt of the subsequent certificate will be required prior to commencement.

Home / Hybrid Working Consideration

Home or Hybrid working options can be discussed with candidates invited for interview. All home/hybrid workers must live in the UK. A satisfactory trial period applies; employees may be required to attend Council offices for induction and be on site as required. Hybrid working means office-based with permitted remote work on an ad hoc basis.
Driving Licence
The duties require travel to undertake the full remit of the role; a current driving licence and access to a vehicle are required. If disability precludes driving, reasonable adjustments will be considered.
Level 1 Disclosure
This role requires Level 1 Disclosure Clearance to access the Public Sector Network. East Lothian Council will submit a Police Act Disclosure application on behalf of the preferred candidate and receipt of the certificate is required prior to commencement. If you have spent more than 3 months working or living outside the UK in the last 5 years, you may need to present an overseas criminal record check per GOV.UK guidance.
