Resident Welfare Officer
Covering Barrow in Furness/Workington/Carlisle
Full-time, permanent position, offering a salary of up to £28,917, plus a company car!
Mears Housing Management are seeking Resident Welfare Officers to support the delivery of a new service designed to enable a vulnerable client group, avoid homelessness, and move into settled accommodation. Pastoral, floating support will be required to support the management and sustainment of interim accommodation and to support a pathway to settled accommodation.
The Role
Forms part of a front-line delivery team providing accommodation and support through:
* Responsibility to assess, record, and plan welfare and support needs for each client assigned to you.
* Delivery of welfare and support services ensuring a tailored approach, meeting individual needs while being culturally aware and sensitive.
* Delivery of services to ensure contractual compliance and successful outcomes of KPIs and targets.
* Signposting, direct referrals, and liaising with other agencies/organisations.
* Developing relationships with support and service providers within the region.
* Managing and mitigating service user well-being risks and escalation in line with policies.
* Ensuring safeguarding and welfare are fully considered in line with processes.
* Maintaining professional boundaries and resilience to provide a consistent service.
* Collaborating with Housing Managers to deliver seamless services tailored to individual and property needs.
* Reporting on performance and service metrics, escalating risks and concerns as needed.
This role includes a company car, as travel across different locations in the North West area is required.
Role Criteria
This role is part of the front-line service team supporting a vulnerable client group. You will also have:
o Experience in a similar role
o Experience working with vulnerable and diverse client groups
o Exposure to issues like drug misuse, homelessness, mental health, ex-offenders, trafficking
o A qualification in support or mental health services
o Ability to identify individual and family needs and support packages to maintain independence
o Effective communication skills
o Ability to work independently
o Supportive, trustworthy, empathetic, patient, open-minded, and proactive in helping others
o Full UK Driving License
