Peterborough College, part of Inspire Education Group, is looking for a practical and enthusiastic Technician Trainer to support our Engineering students.
This is a great opportunity for someone with engineering experience who enjoys working with people and wants to help the next generation develop their skills. The role could suit someone at the start of their career looking to gain experience in education, or someone with industry experience who would enjoy sharing their knowledge in a supportive college environment.
About the role
Working alongside our Engineering lecturers, you will help support practical learning in the workshop and guide students as they develop their technical skills. You’ll play an important role in creating a safe, organised and engaging learning environment.
Your role will include:
1. Supporting lecturers with practical engineering sessions and workshop activities
2. Coaching and guiding students as they develop their skills
3. Supervising students during practical work and assessments
4. Helping maintain equipment, tools and workshop resources
5. Ensuring the workshop remains safe, clean and well organised
6. Supporting students in the use of specialist equipment
7. Assisting with stock control and maintaining workshop resources
About you
We’re looking for someone with practical engineering experience who enjoys working with others and takes pride in maintaining a well-run workshop.

8. A newly qualified engineer looking to build experience in education
9. Someone with industry experience who would enjoy passing on their skills
10. Someone looking for a role with a good work–life balance while still staying connected to the industry
Ideally you will have:
11. Experience within an engineering or construction environment
12. Good practical skills and knowledge of workshop equipment
13. An organised and safety-conscious approach to work
14. The ability to support and encourage young people
15. Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths

Working hours are 8:30am – 5pm Monday to Thursday and 8:30am – 4:30pm Friday.
