As a Catering Stores Operative, you will play a vital role in supporting the catering team by managing the receipt, storage, and distribution of food and kitchen supplies. You will ensure that all stock is handled efficiently, stored safely, and issued accurately to meet the needs of the kitchen and service areas. This role requires strong attention to detail, good organisational skills, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene and food safety.
You will work closely with chefs, delivery drivers, and other team members to ensure smooth day-to-day operations within the catering stores environment. Your responsibilities will include:
1. Checking and signing for incoming goods
2. Inspecting delivery for quality, quantity, and condition
3. Lifting and stacking items in the chiller, freezer, and ambient areas
4. Rotating stock to ensure first-in, first-out (FIFO) usage
5. Monitoring expiry dates and reporting discrepancies
6. Maintaining cleanliness and organisation of storage areas
7. Distributing ingredients and supplies to the kitchen and service area as requested
8. Following food hygiene and safety regulations (HACCP)
9. Ensuring temperature checks and cleaning schedules are completed
10. Recording and reporting waste as required
11. Reporting stock shortages or issues promptly
