Overview
Hours: 8 hours per week to be used after school and Sundays
Area: Jarrow, South Tyneside
Rates of Pay: Age related national minimum wage to £12.90 per hour. this is negotiable at interview and higher rate payable
Holidays: 5.6 weeks pro rota per annum
Responsibilities
* Provide personal assistance to a 15-year-old boy with Autism, learning disability and Anxiety Disorder.
* Assist after school hours and some weekends (to be discussed at interview).
* Support activities the young man enjoys, including football, swimming, going to the beach, and social interactions with peers.
* Supervise and accompany him in the community, monitoring safety and maintaining a supportive environment.
* Promote a fulfilling and varied schedule aligned with his interests.
* Work in a 2:1 setting with suitable candidates; a full enhanced DBS is essential for this role.
* Applicants must reside in the UK and have a driving licence; non-drivers may be considered.
* Note: There is a genuine occupational requirement for the holder of this post to be male/female in accordance with the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014 and Equality Act 2010 schedule 9 paragraphs 1 – 4.
* The vacancy will close as soon as a suitable candidate is appointed.
* At the time of starting employment, the successful candidate must have permission to work in the U.K.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Full enhanced DBS is essential for this role.
* Ability to work after school and some weekends (flexibility discussed at interview).
* UK work eligibility.
* Driving licence preferred but may consider non-drivers.
Additional Information
There is a need for sensitivity to the boy’s anxiety around unfamiliar people and for supporting him in a safe, supervised community setting.
