Lead Assembly Technician
Salary: Up to £40,000 per annum, with progression opportunities
Location: Coventry
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 37.5 hours - Days

Role Summary

The Lead Assembly Technician is responsible for carrying out high-quality sub-assembly and full-assembly work across mechanical and electrical components to meet production, quality, and safety standards. The role supports collaboration across manufacturing and engineering functions, while also contributing to process improvement, training, and the efficient flow of work through assembly operations.

Role & Responsibilities

Perform mechanical and electrical assembly in line with standard operating procedures, quality requirements, and production targets.
Prepare and assemble complex wiring and sub-systems, including routing and connecting harnesses to PCBs and associated components.
Carry out approved modifications, rework, and repairs using the correct tools and methods.
Support the introduction of new assembly processes alongside Engineering and Manufacturing Engineers.
Create and follow up on non-conformance reports to support quality improvement and reduce recurrence.
Ensure assembly activities are completed in line with quality, risk, environmental, and health and safety procedures.
Participate in continuous improvement activities across assembly operations.
Lead Assembly Technician will support the training of new personnel within the assembly function.
Proactively create work orders and support kitting activities to ensure buildable parts are available when required.
Maintain a high-standard assembly environment and identify opportunities to improve tooling, set-up, and working practices.
Requirements of the Role

Proven experience in mechanical and/or electrical assembly within a manufacturing environment.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, engineering documentation, and work instructions accurately.
Competence in using hand tools, power tools, measuring equipment, and torque wrenches.
Ability to review SOPs and engineering documentation and suggest practical updates or solutions where required.
Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality within an ISO9001 environment.
Good problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
Effective communication skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork.
Good manual dexterity and the ability to work precisely on small or complex components.
The Lead Assembly Technician must be familiar with health, safety, and environmental standards in a production setting.
