The company
Adamo Foods is a deeptech food company developing an entirely new generation of meat alternatives, using our proprietary fermentation technology (3x patented). With our ultra realistic whole-cut products (starting with a filet alternative) we've landed letters of intent to sell products from some of the largest food distributors and restaurants.
Over 90% of external tasters to date have said the Adamo Filet is the best product they've tried. We're now beginning to scale up to commercial production and sales. We were recently ranked #20 in the

The role
We are looking for an energetic, ambitious and experienced Process Engineer to join our team to lead the
scale-up
of our:
1. Post-harvest process
(from harvest to ready-to-use biomass); and,
2. Steak manufacturing process
(from ready-to-use biomass to food products).
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of scaling up processes in
fungal biomass downstream processing
and
food manufacturing (ideally meat alternatives)
to commercial operations.
Key responsibilities
* Lead our work on post-harvest processing and product scale-up, with a focus on translating our pilot scale process into commercially viable products.
* Design and improve our pilot and commercial production facilities to enhance productivity, quality and safety.
* Establish strategic partnerships to support our goals, and manage our existing R&D partners (production facilities, R&D partners, etc.)
* Coordinate the work of external partners to deliver our company scale up targets
* Identify and implement process improvements to reduce costs, minimise waste and increase efficiency.
* Monitor and analyse process performance metrics, such as quality, yield and productivity and develop strategies to meet or exceed targets.
* Establish and oversee key experiments at lab and pilot scale
Requirements
* 5+ years experience in process engineering
* BSc or MSc in Engineering (chemical, mechanical, industrial or similar)
* Knowledge of fermentation downstream processes such as separation, dewatering, washing and thermal treatment at large volumes (>10,000L)
* Strong background in process scale up and tech transfer from pilot to demo to commercial
* Experience scaling finished food products from pilot to commercial manufacture, ensuring product quality, consistency, and manufacturability at volume. Experience in meat alternatives is a nice to have
* Strategic and analytical mind-set, able to find new and novel ways to reach goals
* Excellent communications skills
* Self-motivated and able to drive work as part of a small team
* Passion for food, the plant-based industry, and sustainability
* The right to work in the UK, unfortunately we're not able to sponsor visas for this role
