What's involved with this role:
We are seeking an experienced Major Crime Staff Investigator to support investigating officers with administrative and investigative tasks linked to major crime investigations.
The role involves preparing evidential statements, managing records on police systems, assisting with enquiries, and supporting the investigation process to ensure cases are progressed effectively and in line with operational and legal requirements.
Qualifications:
* Full UK Driving Licence
* PIP2 accreditation
* HOLMES training – desirable
Skills & Experience Required:
* Experience working within Major Crime investigations
* Ability to communicate effectively verbally, demonstrating tact, integrity, strong listening skills and understanding
* Proven written communication skills including experience of statement taking or report writing
* Ability to manage pressured situations while maintaining a high level of accuracy and productivity
* Highly motivated with the ability to work effectively within a team environment and build positive working relationships
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare and record witness and victim statements in approved evidential formats.
* Provide clerical and administrative support to investigating officers, including updating internal systems such as NICHE Crime Recording System, HOLMES database, Cycomms applications, and submitting LANDesk and forensic requests.
* Undertake investigative tasks including reviewing material for further enquiries, conducting CCTV reviews and witness enquiries, and progressing actions allocated through Coordinators and HOLMES.
* Seize, handle and maintain continuity of exhibits, ensuring accurate recording, storage, exhibit list preparation and property disposal in line with the Police Reform Act 2002.
* Support the Lead Interviewer during suspect and victim interviews as a Second Interviewer when required.
* Assist in preparing case files to the required standards in accordance with Northamptonshire Police and Crown Prosecution Service policies.
