As a Legal Cashier, you will work closely with experienced cashiering and accounts team to uphold the highest standards in legal accounting, compliance and client service. This role will suit an organised individual with a keen eye for accuracy and a commitment to best practice in legal finance. Key Responsibilities in Legal Cashiering & Firm Accounts
* Processing client and office account transactions accurately in accordance with the Solicitors Accounts Rules (SAR), including receipts, payments, transfers and reconciliations.
* Banking of client and office monies, and daily bank reconciliations across multiple accounts.
* Preparation and processing of electronic payments, CHAPS, and BACS transactions.
* Handling petty cash, expenses, purchase ledgers and credit control duties as part of effective law firm finance management.
* Ensuring compliance with Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations and internal policies.
* Working closely with the conveyancing and legal teams to resolve queries and provide financial reporting as required.
* Maintaining accurate records and providing support for annual audits and regulatory reviews.
* Liaising professionally with clients, colleagues, banks and external stakeholders regarding financial matters.
Experience and Skills Required for a Legal Cashier Role
* Previous experience in a legal cashier, accounts assistant, or finance administrator role within a law firm or professional services organisation (minimum 12 months preferred).
* Sound understanding of the Solicitors Accounts Rules and legal accounting principles.
* Demonstrable accuracy and attention to detail in processing financial transactions.
* Well organised, with the ability to prioritise, work to tight deadlines, and manage multiple tasks efficiently and confidentially.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a professional approach to client service.
* Proficient IT skills, including experience of accounts software and Microsoft Office applications.
* Proactive and collaborative team member, able to work independently with minimal supervision.
