8. The roles will typically cover a variety of functions and disciplines, including ICE calibration, powertrain system performance development, data analysis, issue investigation & resolution, system modelling and simulation.
9. Work in new powertrain sectors (battery, fuel cell, etc) is also a possibility.
10. Some industry or academic experience is preferred, but training will be offered & given to candidates as required.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
11. Develop and manage powertrain calibrations using client &/or Client toolsets & processes
12. Define, generate & manage engine test plans
13. Planning, execution and analysis of engine & system simulation activities
14. System performance assessment, including trade-offs and data analysis
15. Data review and root cause analysis (RCA) to identify powertrain system issues & develop solutions for resolution
16. System modelling, calibration simulation, using toolsets such a MatLab SIMULINK
17. Functioning within a professional team, generate & present reports (verbal & written) including recommendations and proposals
18. Work with other company's & Client teams to deliver project objectives
19. Promote best practice and robust technical solutions using Client toolsets as appropriate
YOUR PROFILE:
Essential:
20. 2:1 or above Bachelors or Master's degree in a relevant topic
21. Excellent understanding of diesel internal combustion engine operation and performance
22. Knowledge of ancillary systems (air path, exhaust after treatment technologies, control, etc)
23. Understanding of vehicle architecture & control systems
24. Experience or knowledge of vehicle emissions requirements
25. Good knowledge of simulation systems, particularly MatLab SIMULINK
26. Working knowledge of calibration toolsets & engine calibration, including trade-offs for emissions and performance
27. Excellent analytical skills, able to interpret data and results and present results in a clear & understandable format
28. Strong team player, with good communication & English language skills
29. A self-starter, 'can-do' approach, able to work with other team members at all levels to reach 'win-win' agreements
30. A strong willingness to learn and develop
Preferable:
31. PhD in relevant subject
32. Knowledge of the off highway (NRMM) or heavy duty on road sector, including emissions legislation (Stage V, Tier 4 final, etc)
33. Experience of using calibration and data analysis tools (e.g.: CONCERTO, Vector CANape, CAMEO, DIAdem, etc)
34. An understanding in the techniques, process, toolsets & methodology for Virtual Calibration
35. Expert NRMM ICE experience (calibration, analysis & simulation)
36. Good knowledge of NRMM machines and associated systems
37. An interest in non-ICE based power technologies (Fuel Cells, battery systems, etc)
38. Controls & calibration development using SiL & MiL techniques
39. Familiarisation with 1-D simulation tools (e.g. GT-Power)
