Senior Project Manager – Mitie (London, United Kingdom)
This role is responsible for overseeing the full lifecycle of construction projects, from initiation and planning through to execution, monitoring, and closure. The successful candidate will lead on‑site operations, coordinating with the Mitie team, clients, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure that all aspects of the project are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and regulatory standards.
The position requires strong leadership and resource management skills, with a focus on building and maintaining a motivated and high‑performing team. A commercial mindset is essential, with the ability to identify and implement cost‑saving opportunities while representing the company professionally and proactively in all interactions.
Health and safety is a critical aspect of the role. The candidate must ensure the safety of all site personnel and visitors by enforcing preventative measures, adhering to safety protocols, and maintaining compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
* Work closely with the Project Sponsor to define the scope and objectives of each project.
* Manage deliverables in line with the project plan, oversee change control, and resolve cross‑functional issues.
* Ensure effective resourcing and stakeholder management, including oversight of third‑party suppliers.
* Approve supplier risk assessments and method statements.
* Manage the Engineering Work Permit (EWP) process and support technical supervisors in closing out permits.
* Provide regular updates to clients, architects, engineers, local authorities, and internal stakeholders.
* Monitor and report on project progress and performance.
* Lead weekly governance presentations and attend all relevant meetings.
* Ensure compliance with CDM regulations and respond to emergency calls as needed.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a highly focused and driven individual with a proven track record of managing multiple construction projects through their full lifecycle. They should be proactive, well‑organized, and capable of planning ahead while maintaining flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
* Previous experience in APM (Association for Project Management) methodologies.
* A strong engineering background, ideally within technical or regulated environments.
* In‑depth understanding and practical application of CDM regulations.
* RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) membership or equivalent professional affiliation.
* IOSH Managing Safely certification.
* Familiarity with CAFM systems such as MERP, SAP, or Maximo.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Power BI.
* Excellent customer relationship and stakeholder management skills.
* Ability to lead and develop a team to deliver high‑quality service.
* Capable of conducting site surveys and working independently or collaboratively.
