Fraudulent recruiters have been using social media platforms to dupe potential job seekers into divulging personal and financial information.

Sophisticated frauds, involving grooming of targeted individuals, shows the fake recruiter asking the unsuspecting job seeker to take part in a fake job interview, either over the phone or via WhatsApp, and also sending fraudulent follow-up correspondence offering job positions.

Any communication about jobs at Oxford University Hospitals will come from 'Trac', or via an ouh.nhs.uk email address.

All meetings and interviews will be scheduled on Microsoft Teams from a verified OUH email account.

Hi, My name is Emma Wilcock and I am the Accountable Pharmacist for the Clinical Trials Aseptic Services in Oxford and I'm very excited to share this new and exciting career opportunity with you.

I am privileged to manage and support our fantastic technical team of Pharmacy Technicians, Science Manufacturing Technicians, Clinical Trial Practitioners and Assistants as we provide support services to clinical trial research teams on all our Trust sites throughout Oxfordshire.

The Clinical Trials Pharmacy consists of Pharmacists, Technicians, Assistants and Apprentices. We work closely with research teams across the trust and external representatives.

Main duties of the job

As a Clinical Trials Aseptic Services (Healthcare Science) Associate Practitioner in our team, you will have an extremely varied role under the direction of the Accountable Pharmacist and Aseptic Services Manager or deputies.

Your main role is to be able to handle medicines safely and securely, to aseptically dispense doses, to maintain a cleanroom environment, to supervise clean room activities, to be a Pre and In-Process accredited Checking (PIPC) practitioner and support the Aseptic Services Team in the training of junior and rotational staff members.

A successful candidate should possess NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Service Skills OR BTEC Level 2 Certificate in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Support and have extensive experience of the day-to-day management and handling of IMPs. Applicants without these essential qualifications will not be considered.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Core Role

1. Be competent in handling medicines, including novel investigation medicinal products (IMPs), cytotoxics, monoclonal antibodies and Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products, to ensure their safe receipt, storage and waste disposal.

2. Be competent to aseptically dispense medicines in the clean room using an isolator, working within standard operating procedures and meeting national Quality Assurance of Aseptic Services (QAAPs) standards.

3. Support the Aseptic Services Team in the day to day management of workload in CTAS.

4. Be a Pre and In-Process Checking (PIPC) practitioner to assure the quality of the aseptically dispensed doses for patients, following completion of the accreditation course.

5. Plan the workload in the aseptic suite to ensure the timely supply of medication to the patients.

6. Assist in the training and be responsible for the supervision of staff in the aseptic unit to ensure that work is completed to the required standard, resolving simple queries and escalating more complex ones to senior staff.

7. Communicate effectively with Investigators, Research Nurses, Trust Research & Development, Sponsors, Clinical Research Associates and Pharmacy staff during the running of a clinical trial.


Person specification

* GCSE or equivalent Level 4 or above in Maths, English and Science
* Extensive experience of the day-to-day management and handling of IMPs
* Completed GCP training and has a good knowledge and understanding of how it affects pharmacy responsibilities and IMP management
* Ability to work fully gloved and gowned in an isolator
* Ability to handle medicines safety including deep frozen medicines
* Reliable
* Ability to show attention to detail in work
* Ability to concentrate to undertake tasks accurately and consistently
* Good interpersonal skills with all levels of staff
* Ability to work within SOPs
* Understand when to escalate issues found and can resolve simple issues
* Ability to convey information accurately – verbally and written reports or email
* Professional approach and experience of team working
* Enthusiastic and responsible attitude towards work
* Good organisational skills and prioritisation of work
* Able to work alone and able to use own initiative
* Ability to supervise other junior staff and provide guidance on how to undertake tasks as part of their training
* Ability to plan daily tasks for assistants, students, apprentices
* To work with hazardous medicines including ATMPs/GMOs, handle dry ice safely
* Computer literate with experience of working with the Microsoft Office package
* Vaccination Status - As required by OUH occupational health / NHS
* NHS experience
* Aseptic experience
* Awareness of legislation and standards relating to Good Clinical Practice
* Able to acknowledge, appreciate and conform to change that occurs
* Experience of working on own initiative
