Applications are invited for a post of Trust Doctor ( ST1 Equivalent) in Endocrine Medicine at the Royal Cornwall Hospital. This is a full time permanent contract. A good level of postgraduate NHS work experience would be an advantage.

The main role of the post is to support the endocrine team in delivering inpatients care, mainly on medical wards. Applicants will be required to have experience of working within a medicine related specialty for a minimum period of 12 months. You will require current ALS (or equivalent) and will also be GMC registered with a licence to practice.

Main duties of the job

* Assessment and management of medical admissions under the endocrine team in the Surgical Admission Lounge.
* Attend ward rounds as timetabled.
* Attend multi-disciplinary ward meetings.
* Assist in-patient management.
* There are no out of hours responsibilities for this post, to guarantee continuity of care.
* Participate in Clinical Audit.
* Participate in departmental Education and Training sessions.

You will have access to study leave and the experience will be equivalent to a training post. You will be subject to the Terms and Conditions of the fixed-term posts within the Trust.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

* MB ChB or equivalent medical qualification
* ALS or equivalent
* Full GMC Registration with license to practice

Desirable

* Additional Qualifications e.g. BSc, MSc, PhD, or equivalent

Knowledge

Essential

* Achieved appropriate level of core competencies in medical speciality (acute/general medicine, endocrine, renal, respiratory, gastroenterology)
* Has a working knowledge of NHS

Desirable

* Previous experience in endocrine medicine
