About the role
We are looking for Project Managers to lead and deliver exciting, innovative projects including flood risk management studies and schemes that reduce flood risk to communities and enhance the environment.
This role sits in Project and Programme Delivery (PPD) and is a prominent position within our integrated project teams, taking responsibility for the management of projects as the Client project manager, or working alongside senior colleagues. The role holder will manage the project delivery process from initial strategic planning, through to feasibility, detailed design and then into implementation, construction and handover. You will support project team members, flexing your involvement to suit the strength of the team.
Key responsibilities
* Build a great working environment to create high performing teams including suppliers, client representatives, technical specialists and other partners.
* Apply commercial acumen in project, contract and risk management, establish effective relationships and facilitate collaborative and efficient ways of working.
* Make project decisions informed by technical leads whilst following governance procedures, project assurance and legislation.
* Develop a resilient network of relationships with stakeholders such as statutory authorities, landowners and local communities to negotiate agreements, consents, approvals and external funding.
* Respond to incidents; be available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident (additional payment may apply).
Qualifications & experience
* Relevant degree such as civil engineering, environmental science or geography.
* Robust experience of both contract and project management.
* At least four years of project management experience; a project management qualification such as PRINCE2 or APM is required.
* Experience working on civil engineering projects, financial and commercial controls, NEC contract suites, CDM regulations and risk management is highly desirable.
* Membership of a professional body such as ICE, CIWEM or APM is preferable and support will be provided if not already a member.

Driving licence.

Base location can be flexible within the East Hub (Reading, Welwyn, Peterborough, Norwich, Ipswich) but with an expectation of co‑locating in Hub or delivery partner offices occasionally.
