Job Overview

Little Bears Preschool was established in 2007, and is now situated in a beautiful forest where due to an increase in numbers we are looking for a fun, energetic, inspiring, caring person to join our small team. We are a family run setting, so you must be happy to work in a small, close knit team and have a good sense of humour! Our setting is led by a Level 7 Early Years Teacher with a passion for child-led learning in a loving environment. We do not have set themes or meticulously planned activities, instead you must know each child's next steps and be able to support them in reaching these goals in their play spontaneously through excellent knowledge of the EYFS. Having a great imagination and being able to come up with creative new ideas is super important - no two days are ever the same. You really have to visit Little Bears to get a feel for our home from home, inclusive and inspiring setting. We've been told many times "there's nowhere like Little Bears!". We are seeking a dedicated, hard working, motivated Early Years Educator to join our team in providing high-quality care and education to children from 2 to 5. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children and creating a nurturing learning environment, and be able to work in a child-led setting.

Part‑Time Role

This is a part time role - hours to be negotiated.

Duties

* Plan and deliver engaging, exciting, innovative, stimulating activities to support children's learning and development.
* Be confident in working without set planning or themes, and be able to support children 'in the moment' with their learning and development, planning your interactions accordingly.
* Provide a safe and secure home from home stimulating environment for children to explore and learn.
* Implement the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum to a high standard supporting and meeting the unique needs of each child in your care.
* Complete CPD and have a desire to learn on the go, implementing and researching new theories and training.

Skills

* Willingness to work with and support the team under guidance from senior staff.
* Good communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with children, staff, parents and other professionals.
* A good understanding of play based learning approaches, including in the moment planning, to support children’s learning and development.
* Ability to support the learning and development of children using a child-led learning approach by identifying their individual needs and interests.
* Creating a safe, secure and nurturing environment and combining meaningful interactions to support development and learning in the moment as opposed to endless planning of activities with themes.
* Working with parents, other agencies and professionals to offer the best care and provision for individual children.
* The ability to think quickly on the spot, with spontaneous and imaginative ideas.
* Friendly and flexible approach to work.
* Commitment to equal opportunities and keeping children safe.
* Good organisation skills and competence using iPad (Tapestry online learning journal).

Qualifications

* Experience working with young children in a childcare setting (at least 3 years).
* MINIMUM LEVEL 3 relevant Early Years Qualification or equivalent.
* Excellent communication skills in English.
* Paediatric First Aid certificate is preferred.

Location

We also need you to have a love of all things outdoors! Our amazing location means that we spend lots of time in the woods and exploring the nearby stream, so you do need to be excited to get outside in all weather.

Safeguarding

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expect all staff to share this commitment. Safer recruitment practice and pre-employment checks, including a minimum of 2 references, will be undertaken before any appointment is confirmed. This post is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
