Position: Cover Supervisor Location: Tower Hamlets Start Date: June 2026 Salary: £20,500 - £27,300 per annum Smart Teachers is recruiting a confident and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to join a large, successful secondary school in East London from June 2026 This is an excellent opportunity for graduates, aspiring teachers, experienced cover supervisors, or education professionals looking to gain further classroom experience within a supportive and inclusive school environment. The Role As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff. You will deliver pre-prepared lesson materials, manage classroom behaviour, and ensure students remain engaged and on task throughout the lesson. The successful candidate will work across a variety of subjects and year groups and will play an important role in maintaining continuity of learning. Key Responsibilities Supervising whole classes during teacher absences. Delivering pre-planned lessons and ensuring learning objectives are met. Managing student behaviour in accordance with school policies. Supporting students to remain focused and engaged with learning activities. Reporting on lesson outcomes and any issues arising during lessons. Promoting a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment. Following safeguarding and child protection procedures at all times. The Ideal Candidate Will Have Experience working with young people in an educational, coaching, tutoring, youth work, or support capacity. Strong classroom management and communication skills. Confidence working with students across Key Stages 3 and 4. The ability to build positive relationships with students and staff. A flexible and proactive approach to work.
