Title: Private Client Solicitor Reports to: Managing Partner Reported to by: Admin assistant/secretary/Paralegal Main purpose of job - ? To join the existing private client department with a view to grow and develop it further. ? Build/manage own case load. ? Have experience of dealing with all types of private client work. ? Develop the department and its reputation for providing high quality private client legal advice. ? Work with existing team and other fee-earners in the firm to increase referrals. ? Advise on a range of issues across the breadh of private client work. ? Develop and maintain knowledge of private client work and continue to grow the department and its reputation. ? Potential to head the department and influence the direction of the firm. Key tasks include - 2. Undertake key elements of fee-earning work. In particular: ? Wills; ? Powers of Attorney; ? Tax and Estate Planning; ? Probate and Estate Administration; ? Declarations of Trust; ? Court of Protection; ? Elderly client issues; ? attendance at routine client meetings; ? Marketing. 3. Deal with routine client enquiries and communications. 4. Manage the collation of matter start and matter completion data and work with paralegal and other staff to prepare client care and other compliance documents. 5. Deal with all manner of clients from locals to high net worth individuals 6. Develop opportunities for referral of work across the firm and actively participate in business development. 7. Networking with an ability to build good professional network to foster referrals and bring in work to the department and wider firm. 8. Store and manage client documents and files in accordance with firm policy. Person specification 8. 3 years PQE. 9. Excellent understanding of private client law with an ability to advise on a wide range of private client issues. 10. First class technical skills encompassing all aspects of private client work. 11. Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and successfully mange client relationships. 12. Take responsibility for personal and professional development and ensure compliance with professional and CPD requirements. 13. A strong grounding in all aspects of private client work with experience advising on a wide range of matters at a level commensurate with experience. 14. Ability and enthusiasm to generate new work and new leads working with other departments in the firm such as residential and agriculture. 15. A pleasant and assertive manner in dealing with clients. 16. Tact, resilience and flexibility are essential qualities for this role. 17. An effective communicator, both orally and in writing, having a good command of written English. 18. Personally efficient and well organised, with good control of diary systems and key dates policy. 19. Excellent drafting skills and IT proficiency. 20. Strong commercial acumen, attention to detail and financial management. 21. Ambition to grow Department and become a key member of the business. 22. An eagerness to learn new systems and a desire to continually improve the firms practices and procedures. 23. Always providing outstanding client care in line with the firms highly professional approach; 24. Ability to work with the Managing Partner to agree and impliment strategy to grow the department.
