The Role and Responsibilities

An exciting permanent opportunity has arisen for a Lifting Engineer to join EnerMech on the UK's Low Carbon Nuclear project based in Bridgwater, Somerset. The role is a permanent day shift position. You will report to the Lifting Site Manager.

You will be responsible for;

* Lift planning assurance and process oversight of lifting operations at HPC
* Support and develop lifting superintendents to carry out their roles.
* Recording of lifting inspections and follow up of any non-conformances.
* Ability to assist in contractor audits to ensure compliance.
* The planning, review and/or approval of internal and external SSOW’s (Lifting Operations Lift Plans)
* In the field governance ensuring that lift operations are planned and executed accordingly.
* Ensuring adherence to lifting standards, regulations & contractors lifting procedures.

Main duties and responsibilities will include;

* To be the interface and technical support to Project teams.
* To plan, manage, monitor and coordinate Lifting operations during the entire construction phase.
* Compliance auditing of Sub-contractors lifting procedures and processes.
* Completing internal and external lift plans and associated document reviews.
* Assessing safe systems of work by reviewing lift plans which will include Method Statements, Risk Assessments.
* Planning and executing lift plan requirements (where required) whilst ensuring the efficient coordination and successful execution of a project programme.
* Delegating duties to Lifting Superintendents, ensuring that they are fully briefed on all aspects of the lifting operation.
* Chair / attend planning / progress meetings with key stakeholders from various contractors and departments ensuring effective flow of communication.
* Maintain detailed site logs and records of all project activity in support of the effective execution of project contract.
* Support and assist site lifting contractors with the development and implementation of safe systems of works.

The Requirements

To be successful for this position you will have the following;

* CPCS Appointed Persons Blue card (Competent Operator)
* CPCS A61 Appointed Person (Blue Card)
* ECITB Appointed Person – Appointed Person Moving Loads (Certificate of Training) and TAP01 Planning a Rigging Operation (Certificate of Achievement)
* Experience of working with AutoCAD/MS Office.
* Ability to read and interpret General Arrangement drawings of plant and equipment.
* Significant experience of working on major construction sites.
* Experienced in all types of Heavy Lift and General Lifting Operations.
* Demonstrable experience in a supervisory role in the safe execution of lifting and handling operations.
* Effective working knowledge and experience of Logistics & Transport management.
* Effective working knowledge and experience of temporary works processes.
* Significant experience of establishing, creating and implementing Safe Systems of Work for lifting operations.
* A good working knowledge and understanding of the UK regulations (LOLER, PUWER, HSWA) and BSEN technical standards associated with lifting, hoisting operations and lifting equipment.
* Strong leadership skills.
* Strong communicator, both written and verbally.
* Strong and effective coordinator who is organised, disciplined, able to perform under pressure and manage multiple priorities and parallel tasks.
* Report writing skills.
