Role Overview
As part of its drive to de‑carbonise, the City of Edinburgh Council seeks a dynamic, client‑focused, personable Building Surveyor with strong technical and people skills. You will lead on the design and implementation of high‑quality construction projects, liaise with internal and external design teams, and contribute to the council’s low‑carbon and zero‑carbon initiatives.
Responsibilities
* Lead on design and implementation of high‑quality construction projects.
* Liaise with internal and external design teams.
* Prepare contract documents, partake in billing, contract administration, certify contract payments, and fulfil Designer/Principal Designer duties under CDM Regulations.
Qualifications
* Degree qualified in Building Surveying.
* Full membership of a related professional body such as CIOB, RICS or similar.
* Minimum 5 years post‑qualification experience in building surveying, design and project/contract management; proven record of working as part of a professional design team.
* Proficient in Auto CAD, NBS Specifications, MS Office, and building survey, design packages.
* Valid CSCS card.
* Understanding of Retrofit design principles and embedding renewable technologies into projects is an advantage.
* Good written and verbal communication skills and ability to present as a Council representative.
