Job Summary
Due to an exciting period of growth, we are now seeking certified Aircraft Fitters to join our Defence manufacturing facilities on the Isle of Wight.
Our Fitters are responsible for carrying out standard activities of their assigned tasks, in full compliance with Work Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures, ensuring safety for themselves and colleagues.
You will work as part of a close team, with communication, flexibility, and availability to work all shift patterns and overtime as required.
You will actively identify safety concerns, report problems to your TL, and suggest improvements (Kaizen).
You will contribute to creating a 'Great Place To Work' through continuous improvement, safety, and open dialogue.
You will be supported by your Team Leader (TL), who will facilitate your training and coaching.
Job Responsibilities
* Work on a range of aircraft main and sub-assemblies, using appropriate techniques, tools, and fixtures, according to technical data and competencies.
* Read and understand drawings, processes, and procedures to meet regulatory quality standards and customer specifications, working within sub and final assembly areas. Processes involving both Composite and Metallic structures are included.
* Perform tasks to high standards, in compliance with work instructions and training, reporting issues immediately.
* Follow all Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and standards.
* Understand and contribute to team KPIs: People, Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cash, and Cost.
* Achieve certification at the Lean Foundation level and implement at least one Kaizen per month.
* Support problem-solving efforts, sharing ideas based on experience.
* Promote team engagement and a positive culture.
* Role-model safety, continuous improvement, and accountability.
* Comply with all legal and regulatory requirements, including company policies, export controls, and ethics policies.
Job Qualifications
* Experienced aircraft fitters with 2-4 years of apprenticeship or relevant certification, able to read drawings and work within assembly areas involving composites and metallic structures.
* Strong pride in quality work, collaborative attitude, effective communication, and safety focus.
* Eligible to work in the UK.
Note: The position requires UK National Security Vetting (UKNSV) Security clearance (SC). Residency of at least 5 years in the UK is usually required for SC clearance, but individual assessments are made.
