Reports to: Managing Director
Job Title: Part-Time - Financial Controller
Location: Huddersfield, West Yorkshire (Office/Hybrid)
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership:
o Take ownership of financial leadership, promoting company values and fostering a collaborative, accountable, and innovative culture.
o Partner strategically with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to provide insights and drive operational efficiency.
o Support decision-making with valuable financial insights and challenges.
2. Financial Control:
o Oversee all aspects of the finance function, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting.
o Maintain robust financial controls, manage overheads, adhere to budgets, and recommend corrective actions.
o Lead the period-end financial close process and oversee treasury activities, including cash management and forex.
o Manage accounts payable/receivable processes to improve working capital.
o Support periodic forecasting, planning, and annual budgeting.
o Collaborate with external advisors, including accountants and tax specialists.
3. Finance Team:
o Establish efficient, consistent standards and processes within the finance function.
o Coach and develop finance team members, encouraging continuous improvement.
o Optimize reporting processes using production management systems and Excel.
Qualifications & Experience:
1. Essential:
o Proven experience as a Financial Manager with a track record of driving accuracy and efficiency.
o Experience in a manufacturing environment.
o Hands-on experience within a small finance team.
o Strong interpersonal skills to engage non-finance colleagues.
o Analytical mindset with attention to detail and the bigger picture.
o Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, or ACA) with at least 10 years' post-qualification experience.
o Advanced Excel skills.
2. Desirable:
o Experience in owner-managed businesses.
o Familiarity with import/export processes and postponed import VAT regimes.
o Knowledge of Progress Plus and SAGE 50 software.
