DESCRIPTION
Here at Amazon, we are looking to hire an experienced Senior Automation Engineer to join our team at the Fulfillment Center (FC) in MAN2, Warrington.
The Senior Automation Engineer will prioritize safety in all facility efforts. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, designing, implementing, and documenting control solutions for material handling systems, liaising with internal and external resources, and providing training to RME Technicians on device troubleshooting and Preventive Maintenance. The role requires strong project management, effective communication, self-direction, and the ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment.
Key job responsibilities
1. Prepare specifications and technical details to define equipment, material, and service performance.
2. Perform PLC control level issue diagnosis.
3. Follow change management processes and develop ad-hoc PLC ladder code changes.
4. Familiarity with Siemens and/or Allen Bradley PLC processes and input/output modules.
5. Provide detailed analysis and testing of engineering solutions and components.
6. Collaborate with IT, FC Software, and Operations Engineering to develop and update control knowledge and training documents.
7. Handle incident follow-up, root cause analysis, and documentation.
8. Design industrial engineering solutions for material handling modules within the European network.
9. Provide technical documentation such as flow diagrams, layouts, installation details, schedules, and budgets.
10. Support commissioning of new automation elements.
11. Participate in control projects and initiatives at local or EU network levels.
12. Conduct value engineering and analysis.
13. Ensure adherence to Health & Safety procedures, proactively raising potential issues and promoting safety awareness.
14. Use AutoCAD to review, develop, and maintain electrical schematics and conveyor layouts.
15. Ensure compliance with industry standards such as QS 9000 and ISO 9001.
16. Participate in the development of the Control System SharePoint site.
17. Document control system and equipment configuration changes, maintaining updated documentation on SharePoint.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
* 5+ years of experience in control systems design, development, implementation, and support, especially with PLC-based controls.
* Experience with Siemens and/or Allen Bradley PLC troubleshooting.
* Proficiency with AutoCAD for control layout and schematic design.
* Experience with material handling, flow, and capacity optimization.
* Strong analytical skills and a proactive team-oriented attitude.
* Excellent communication skills in a multilingual environment.
* Ability to operate within an open organizational structure.
* Self-motivated, customer-centric, with knowledge of Six Sigma techniques.
* High school diploma or equivalent.
* Fluency in English, both written and verbal, including report writing skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Professional electrical or mechanical training degree, or BS in related fields.
* Advanced experience in industrial engineering, project management, and implementation.
