Job Title: Quantity Surveyor / Project Manager
Location: Silsoe, Bedfordshire (based on the grounds of Wrest Park)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary: £55,000 per annum (dependent on experience and qualifications)
Role Overview:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Quantity Surveyor with project management capabilities to join a specialist development consultancy. The role involves delivering meaningful, community-focused projects across a broad range of values—from £250k to £25m—while working through all RIBA stages, from concept to completion.
You will collaborate closely with internal planning and design teams as well as experienced external consultants, overseeing financial management, cost control, and overall delivery of construction schemes.
Key Responsibilities:

Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and schedules of rates based on design documentation.

Develop tender packages and contractual documents in coordination with project stakeholders.

Manage and monitor construction budgets throughout the project lifecycle.
*
Conduct regular site visits to assess progress, quality, and cost performance.
*
Negotiate terms and pricing with suppliers and subcontractors.
*
Identify and implement value engineering opportunities.
*
Maintain accurate financial records, prepare interim valuations, variations, and final accounts.
*
Provide risk assessments and cost overrun mitigation strategies.
*
Facilitate communication between project teams to resolve conflicts and maintain momentum.
*
Deliver cost reports and updates, highlighting variances and project performance metrics.
Experience & Qualifications:

BSc/MSc in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
*
Minimum 3 years' experience in quantity surveying or cost consultancy within the UK construction industry.
*
Project management experience is desirable.
*
Strong understanding of construction methods, contracts, and industry regulations.
*
In-depth knowledge of JCT contracts is essential.

Proficiency in cost estimating software and Microsoft Office.

Excellent negotiation, financial, and communication skills.

Proven track record in delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
