What You’ll Be Doing:
As a Principal Structural Engineer, you will play a vital role in the design and analysis of complex steel structures that support submarine builds. Your expertise will help shape the future of marine engineering!
* Design & Analysis: Utilize Eurocodes, British Standards, and BAE standards to create innovative solutions.
* Regulatory Knowledge: Apply your understanding of regulations beyond BAE Systems, including LOLER and weld specifications.
* Technical Proficiency: Interpret and utilize computer-based analytical techniques, including finite element analysis and CAD modeling (Abaqus, S-Frame).
* Support Manufacturing: Assist in the manufacturing, assembly, lifting, handling, and installation processes of submarine structures and components.
* Concept Development: Contribute to the production of concept drawings and technical outputs that meet contractual requirements.
* Quality Assurance: Ensure approvals and check analysis and outputs for accuracy and compliance.
Your Skills and Experience:
* Educational Background: Engineering Degree (BEng/MEng) or equivalent experience.
* Professional Status: Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) nearing CEng status.
* Expertise: Strong background in structural steel analysis and design.
* Standards Knowledge: Fully conversant with Eurocodes and British Standards.
* Design Review: Competent in reviewing and checking design outputs.
* Mechanical Understanding: Good grasp of mechanical engineering and knowledge of lifting handling and LOLER.
* Software Skills: Proficient in ABAQUS, S-Frame, MathCAD, and Excel.
* Production Experience: Previous experience in a production environment, especially marine, is advantageous.

As a Principal Engineer, you will collaborate with a dynamic team of 14 professionals across various seniority levels. Together, you will conduct engineering assessments to support submarine builds, ensuring safety-critical equipment is produced efficiently.
